“2015 was another great year for Adopt a Book,” said Angela Laman, Executive Director of Adopt A Book.

She added, “During the last year we were able to make 96 donations of books to schools and organizations serving underprivileged children and families. We made 82 trips to pick up books, resulting in over 27,545 books donated in 2015!”

Adopt a Book is dedicated to providing at-risk kids with books of their own.

The nonprofit serves to foster literacy and a love of reading by distributing new and gently used books to disadvantaged children in the region.

Since the program began, 90,000 books have been distributed to children, schools and other nonprofit agencies, in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Children at Mt Orab Elementary and Head Start in Brown County have received books.

In Clermont County, Brantner Elementary, Locust Corner, Summerside Elementary schools and residents at the James Sauls Homeless Shelter have received book donations from the nonprofit.

The nonprofit was started by 12 year-old twins, Hannah and Alexander Laman, in November of 2011.

The children, who love to read, were inspired to act, after they heard about children in Cincinnati who didn’t own books.

Alex wants to continue to “make a difference” in providing more books to kids and Hannah “loves hearing the stories on how the books are impacting the kids that receive them.”

“Thank you to all of our friends, family, the Loveland community, our Board members and to the many local businesses that hold book drives, so that we can continue to donate books to so many children in the Cincinnati area,” said Laman.

“A special thank goes to Mattress Firm for continuing their partnership with us, by serving as a drop off location for donated books.”

Adopt A Book accepts monetary donations and new and gently used books. Books are donated a few at a time or by boxes.
