The Batavia Rotary Club is pleased to announce Taylor Morris and Hannah Stegemann as September Students of the Month. Both are well-rounded students, give back to their communities, and exude the Rotary Motto “Service Above Self” in everything they do.

Morris is a senior at Batavia High School (BHS) where she plays softball, participates in National Honor Society, and enjoys any volunteer project that comes her way.

Morris has been involved with the BHS Interact Club throughout high school and currently serves as President. Interact is a high school Rotary Club, and Morris has been instrumental in leading the BHS club through several volunteer projects.

In her spare time, Morris teaches swim lessons to children at the Clermont YMCA and volunteers at Fernside Center for Grieving Children. Through the loss of her father at age ten, she was able to meet people at Fernside that were an inspiration and gave her hope. Morris now gives back to the children of the Cincinnati area who have lost a love one and are looking for help through their grieving process.

“Taylor is an amazing young woman,” said Felicia Grooms, BHS Principal. “In addition to her school and volunteer obligations, she somehow found time this summer to take college classes.”

Morris plans to attend the University of Charleston and major in education. It is her hope to become an elementary school teacher someday.

Stegemann is a senior at Clermont Northeastern High School (CNE) and gives back to her school in many ways. She plays the flute in the marching band and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also participates in Student Senate, Select Choir, and Drama. Stegemann was the lead in the 2014 high school musical and participates in various other school activities.

Taking a special interest in biology, Stegemann is a volunteer at the Newport Aquarium where she loves seeing families enjoy learning about sea life.

“Hannah is an exemplary student who lights up the building,” said TJ Glassmeyer, CNE High School Principal. “She is a fascinating student, and one who will do well in everything she does.”

After graduation, Stegemann plans to attend college and major in biology or animal science.

The Batavia Rotary Club recognizes one high school student from BHS and CNE each month throughout the regular school year. Regular meetings are held weekly on Tuesdays at 7:00 a.m. at the Hawk Building on Taylor Road, Clermont County Airport. Prospective new members and visiting Rotarians are always welcome.
