Dear Editor,

Horrific headlines, shocking stories of school shootings, drug overdoses, domestic violence!

Daily we deal with such heartbreaking crimes on the streets of our cities. And who is first to answer that 911 call? It’s those dedicated members of our local law enforcement departments.

These ‘hometown heroes’ walk the beat day or night in a war zone.

They face danger and sometimes even give their lives while doing their duty to protect us.

Here in the Tri-state one Cincinnati officer died in the line of duty while the murder of another young patrolman near Louisville is still unsolved.

His murderer walks free while these families mourn, surrounded by only memories.

In times such as this, GOD’s people must support Law Enforcement while waging war on crime.

Just as Paul Revere sounded the alarm, GOD’s people need to send out the word: p-r-a-y for God’s protection over these brave officers.

A special “GOD and COUNTRY” Prayer Service to be held on Thursday, October 22nd at the First Baptist Church, 213 Western Avenue, in New Richmond. Beginning at 7 p.m. area pastors will pray for our county, and community, as well as members of Law Enforcement.

State Representative Doug Green will be praying for our country. In addition there will be prayers for the victims, their families, those in sorrow over the latest school shooting.

This service includes special music by John Hale, our music ambassador, as well as other noted soloists. New Richmond’s Bicentennial choir, directed by Vickie Hale, will present patriotic hymns.

All who attend will receive a ‘remembrance ribbon’ as a reminder to ‘support our Law Enforcement’ and to pray for them. A reception will be held following this service. God bless America • America bless God
