Mercy Health, which provides advanced, quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that Mercy Health – Anderson and Clermont Hospitals have awarded college scholarships to 13 outstanding local students.
This year, Anderson Hospital’s Physicians Charitable Foundation, which is made up of former chiefs of staff of the hospital, awarded $2,000 scholarships to the following six deserving local high school seniors:
Lauren Andrews, McNicholas High School
Andrew Blome, Saint Xavier High School
Kelly Cole, McNicholas High School
Niusha Jahanpanah, Turpin High School
Stefan Marasligiller, Turpin High School
Amanda Morrison, Madeira High School
In addition, Turpin High School’s Hallie Grant won the 2015 Junior Science Award, earning Turpin High School’s science department an additional $500 stipend. Stefan Marasligiller won the Dr. Victor VanGilse scholarship, which honors a student with potential to continue to legacy Dr. VanGilse and his commitment to education.
The Physicians Charitable Foundation determines winners based on the students’ personal statements, letters of recommendation and academic achievement. The committee gives special consideration to students who have volunteered at the hospital or are the children of hospital employees.
Dues and contributions from former and current medical staff make up the Foundation’s scholarship fund.
The Medical Staff at Clermont Hospital recognized seven students with scholarship awards of $2,000 each:
Brooke Edwards, Goshen High School, Career Goal: Pediatrician
Allison Flanigan, Glen Este High School, Career Goal: Speech-Language Pathologist
Thomas M. Saylor, Goshen High School, Career Goal: Neurosurgeon
Kelly Simpson, Glen Este High School, Career Goal: Nursing, Oncology or Neonatal
Cheyenne Trammell, Felicity-Franklin High School, Career Goal: Physician, Dermatology or possibly Anesthesiology
Rachel Ward, Clermont Northeastern High School, Career Goal: Participating in OSU’s Health Professions Exploration Program
Brooke Ziska, Amelia High School, Career Goal: Physical Therapy
This is the 10th year that Mercy Health – Clermont Hospital has recognized local students with the Physicians’ Scholarship Award. The hospital’s medical staff funds the award.
Eligible students are those completing their senior year of high school at a school located in Adams, Brown or Clermont County and who are preparing to graduate and attend college to pursue a career in healthcare-related fields.
The Medical Staff strongly supports the community surrounding the hospital and extends this action to the youth of the community who will in the future, also support the community.
