The Flash Gold 15U baseball team traveled to the state capital over the weekend of June 13 and 14 to play up in the 16U division with the chance to play on The Ohio State University’s Nick Swisher Field in the Bill Davis Stadium with a good showing in the early rounds.

A strong pool play performance saw the Flash go 3-0 with victories over US Athletic Nationals out of Indiana, The Prospects and the Lancaster Surge.

Each game was a low-scoring pitcher’s duel that featured little room for error and strong defense.

While the Flash were playing up an age division, they proved to be up to the task, capitalizing on their opponents mistakes.

Advancing to the Championship Round on Sunday, June 14, the Flash played the Ohio Stealth 16U.

A tight game throughout, the Flash found themselves trailing 3-1 for the majority of the outing.

A few late runs by the Stealth resulted in a 7-2 loss for the Flash.

Throughout the tournament, strong pitching performances by Evan Baugh, Aric France and Kyle Blaha allowed the Flash to stay in and win most of their contests.

Strong and timely hitting from France, Stephen Krause, Adam Seal and Mason Stanley helped to push runs across the plate for the Flash.

A strong commitment to small ball — getting runners on base, moving them over and knocking them in —proved to be a good recipe for success to this point.

The Flash hope to build on the momentum gained over the next few months.
