Milford City Council members are proud of the progress that was made in the city in 2014.

Mayor Laurie Howland reviewed the year during the Dec. 15 council meeting and asked council members for their input.

“It’s been a great year for the city of Milford,” Howland said.

Main Street is thriving, and council members worked together well this year with the same goals in mind, Howland said.

“Thank you guys for that,” she said.

Howland asked council members to talk about some of their favorite things that happened this year.

“I think we can point to a lot of success,” Councilman Jeff Lykins said. “The opening of Riverwalk and new businesses moving in.”

The Riverwalk Flats and Rowhouses development was completed this year along Water Street in Milford.

The development includes 31 rowhouses and 78 flats, according to the website.

Councilwoman Lisa Evans said she enjoyed that there were so many events held in the city this year.

Events included Frontier Days, Milford Street Eats Food Truck Rally, National Night Out, Longstone Festival, Art Affaire, Hometown Holidays and more.

“I think it was wonderful,” Evans said.

Councilman Ed Brady noted some of the improvement projects that were completed in the city this year.

“Replacing the sewer lines, to the parking lot, and installing sidewalks in areas that needed them,” Brady said. “There’s really a lot of neat things going on.”

The city of Milford purchased property and demolished the gas station on Main Street with the help of grant funds and is working to complete a parking lot on the property.

The parking lot should be complete next spring, City Manager Jeff Wright said.

Councilman Geoff Pittman said he has enjoyed the small town events and is proud of the growth in the city.

“It’s a great time to be a member of council,” Pittman said.

Howland thanked everyone for their hard work this year.

“I think everyone has picked a good city to work and play,” Howland concluded.
