The city of Milford will be getting into the holiday spirit Nov. 28-30 with the annual Hometown Holidays event as well as a the Greater Milford Association Historical Society Holiday Open House.

Hometown Holidays will include horse-drawn carriage and antique fire engine rides, a gingerbread house contest, a coloring contest, a visit from Santa, and more in downtown Milford as well as an opportunity to shop at local stores.

Shops located in the city include Coolest Toys on Earth, Gardenia Garden and Home Decor, Kirk and Company Jewelers, Row House Gallery, Roads Rivers and Trails, Bishop’s Bicycles, and more.

“There are going to be so many events and so many things for everyone down there,” Councilman Geoff Pittman said about Hometown Holidays. “It’s going to be a great celebration.”

Hometown Holidays is the same weekend as Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. The event will run from 7:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Nov. 28-29 on both days. Only some businesses will be open until 8 p.m.

The Greater Milford Association Historical Society has a Holiday Open House planned from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Promont House in Milford.

Visitors can see a vintage postcard display as well as Santa’s from around the world. Promont house will be decorated in a nutcracker theme, according to GMAHS.

Nancy Meyer, with Row House Gallery, said the society will be raffling off a painting from a local artist valued at $750. She said raffle tickets will be for sale for $5 until Dec. 20.

She said proceeds will go toward the historical society, which helps with the maintenance of Promont House.
