There is still time to register for Ohio State University Extension Clermont County’s 20th Annual Southwest Ohio Perennial School on April 10 at 9 a.m. at the Clermont County Fairgrounds, 1000 Locust Street, Owensville.

Speakers and vendors will guide your springtime habits for your landscape to have a beautifully enhanced garden all summer and fall.

Carrie Taylor of Maysville Community and Technical College will speak on Beneficial Insects…A Valuable Option. Beneficial insects are a positive aspect of floral, horticulture and agronomic crops. “There are numerous methods gardeners can use to control pests and attract beneficial insects as a viable and healthy option,” Taylor said.

Then Brian Jorg from Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden will create a wetland scenario from the zoo’s research project in Warren County. He will discuss how the zoo produced a productive habitat, including diverse wildlife, with the use of native plants that are being used to re-landscape the property. His tips and techniques can be modified for your backyard.

Next it will be time to receive some much needed Horticulture Therapy from Emeritus Clermont Master Gardener Volunteer Jan Doherty. Doherty will speak on the therapeutic use of horticulture with children, prisoners, nursing home residents and ordinary gardeners like you.
