New Richmond Exempted Village School District students were evacuated from all five buildings Feb. 19.
In a letter to parents and residents Superintendent Adam Bird explained that the decision was made to evacuate after receiving direction from police.
“Today, at the direction of police authorities we evacuated all five of our buildings,” Bird wrote. “The authorities conducted a search of each one of them and found them to be free of anything dangerous to our students.”
Bird commended administrators, teachers, drivers and maintenance staff for effectively and quickly implementing the safety plan.
“Thank you to our first responders, parents and community for their support in our effort to keep student safety our first priority.”
