Polymorphic Conveyances featured at UC Clermont

A sculpture by John R.G. Roth
Polymorphic Conveyances by John R.G. Roth will be featured in the Park National Bank Art Gallery at UC Clermont College through Feb. 24. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Artist and sculptor, John R.G. Roth, hails from Norfolk, Virginia and is the Associate Professor of Art at Old Dominion University. Roth’s unique creations can be best summarized by the title of an article written about his works, “Steampunk of the Sea and Furniture for the Fanciful,” by Mark Jenkins and featured in the Washington Post, Feb 8, 2013. These sculpture/furniture hybrids were adapted into a series Roth calls “Speculative Naval Architecture” the artist states, “Absurd ship models sometimes reflect my visceral response to the anthropomorphic aspects of machinery, vehicles, and buildings and sometimes serve as metaphors for my reflections upon conveyance and modes of communication.”

The Park National Bank Art Gallery is located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The gallery is closed weekends.
