Clermont DD is looking for some talented people to put their amateur entertainment skills to good use at the agency’s annual fundraiser Saturday, April 12.

For the past four years the agency, which provides services for Clermont residents with developmental disabilities, has held a fundraiser with a “Dancing with the Stars” theme. This year, the theme is “Clermont’s got Talent.”

Lisa Davis, Clermont DD Director of Community Relations, said that she is hoping to find about 15 people or groups to perform.

“So far, we’ve had some people expressing some interest in performing and asking questions, but I’m not sure how many are committed,” Davis said.

She said that a couple of singing groups, a couple of dancing groups, and one stand-up comic have expressed an interest in performing.

The event will be similar to the Dancing with the Stars fundraisers held in the past. Participants will invite friends come and vote for them. Votes are available for purchase at the event at four for a dollar, and the act with the most votes will be the winner.

The funds raised go toward Clermont DD’s Gift of Time Respite Cooperative.

The respite program gives children and adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to engage in fun activities, while giving their caregivers a break from caregiving and the opportunity to run errands.

The respite sessions are held on two Saturdays a month, and 18 people can be accommodated in each session.

Davis said that half of the respite program’s budget comes from fundraising.
