Clermont County Board of Elections Director Judy Miller was recently presented with the Election Official of the Year Award by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

The presentation was made at the Ohio Association of Election Officials Conference Jan. 17 in Columbus.

Dave Lane, a board member at the Clermont County Board of Elections, said that everyone is very proud of Miller’s accomplishments.

“Since she’s come on as the director she’s displayed a real savvy for the job,” Lane said. “She’s been very proactive in many areas that have been beneficial to the Clermont board, and to the surrounding boards.”

Miller has worked at the board of elections for 32 years. She was one of the two Democrat members of the board from 1982 – 1998. She became director in 2006.

While presenting the award, the secretary of state noted Miller’s accomplishments in her position.

He said that Miller is dedicated to improving training for her staff. He said she has improved precinct election official training by creating precinct election official manuals. He said that Miller has implemented an efficient process for in-person absentee voting, and has saved money for the county by consolidating precincts and polling locations.

Miller said that while her name is on the award, she is not the only one who earned it.

“Without my staff, I would never have received this award,” Miller said.

Lane said that the county is lucky to have Miller filling such an important role.

“In these days and times, we’re just very fortunate to have someone of her caliber in Clermont County,” Lane said. “We certainly don’t pay her enough.”
