Milford High School announced that seven senior student-athletes would be continuing their education and athletic careers at the next level once the regular signing period opened on Feb. 5, 2014.

The Eagles are sending five soccer players — two boys and three girls — and two golfers — one boy and one girl — into collegiate programs after all seven proved to be exceptional at the high school level.

The three female soccer players — Caroline Hester, Kiley Buchanon and Mackenzie Kern — will be attending two different schools with Hester and Buchanon moving on to compete alongside one another for another four years.

Hester, a two-year varsity player, signed her NLI to compete at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio next season. Hester was a defensive standout on a team that posted eight shutouts and gave up just 14 goals in 18 games. During her two years on varsity, Hester netted one goal in an 8-0 win over Edgewood in the opening match of the 2012 season.

Buchanan, a three-time varsity letter earner, will join Hester at Capital University next fall. The forward scored twice during her senior season, taking her total tally to seven goals over the course of her career with the Lady Eagles. She also added four assists to make it six for her career.

Kern, a defender, announced her intentions to continue her playing career at Centre University in Danville, Ky. Kern’s senior season was highlighted by being named to the Eastern Cincinnati Conference’s First Team as well as being honored as an All-District performer.

Thomas Moore, a boys’ soccer player and punter on the football team, signed to play at the next level and also serve at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Playing soccer in college, Moore was named to the Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-District and First Team All-ECC following his senior year.

Moore scored 10 goals and added two assists over his senior year.

Grant Miller inked his paperwork to continue his soccer career at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. Miller scored five goals and added two assists during his senior season that saw the Eagles post a 13-6 overall record and finish third in the ECC.

From the pitch to the links, the Eagles’ Austin Taylor made official his commitment to Cincinnati Christian University. Taylor was the medalist four times for the 8-3 Eagles. He ranked sixth in the ECC with a 39.6 9-hole average and placed seventh individually at the conference tournament, firing an 80 at Glenview Golf Course.

On the girls’ side, Aly Severns will play her college golf at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Severns, a member of the 17-0 Lady Eagles ECC championship team, had the second-best 9-hole average in the league with a 44.30.

She was a First Team All-ECC selection and a district qualifier.
