Two men died after a crash involving a trailer that came unhitched from a truck on U.S. 50 in Stonelick Township Jan. 24.
Michael Brown, 43, of Williamsburg, and Shawn Wilson, 39, of Lynchburg, died as a result of the crash.
According to Lieutenant Wayne Price of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Batavia Post, the crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. after the trailer of a semi driven by Michael Simpson, 60, of Cleves, became dislodged from the vehicle as he was traveling up a hill.
The trailer struck several vehicles before coming to rest in a ditch after it became unhitched.
The trailer first traveled left of center and was sideswiped by Michael Brown, 43, of Williamsburg, who was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
The trailer then struck the guardrail on the right side of the road and traveled back to the left side of the road hitting a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Todd Frost Sr., before coming to rest in a ditch.
Shawn Wilson, driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck, struck the front of the trailer that was in the road and Kelli Maulden, 52, driving a Chevrolet Equinox, struck the rear of Wilson’s truck that was lodged into the front of the trailer.
Brown and Wilson were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Clermont County Coroner. Neither Brown nor Wilson were wearing a seat belt.
Kelli Moulden was transported to Bethesda North Hospital by Stonelick Township EMS, where she was treated and released.
Michael Simpson and Todd Frost Sr., were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Batavia Post.
