Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow has announced that Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township) has been selected as the winner of Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow’s 2013 Technology Advocate Legislator of the Year Award.
“Senator Uecker is a legislator with a vision to help Ohio increase its broadband internet access and integration,” said Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow Executive Director Nathan Slonaker. “We thank him for his leadership and we are confident that his commitment to moving our state forward by allowing Ohioans to enjoy all of the benefits that come with increased access to new technology will remain strong.”
Sen. Uecker was one of the co-founders of the Ohio Broadband and Technology Caucus, a group of legislators dedicated to tackling broadband connection and other technology issues, and his consistent support for policies that help promote technology development and adoption.
“It’s an honor to receive this recognition from Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow,” Sen. Uecker said. “While Ohio is making progress in areas like increased access to Broadband Internet, there is still much to be done.”
Added Uecker, “I look forward to working with the members of the Broadband and Technology Caucus and other tech organizations toward policies that will develop Ohio’s technology infrastructure and address the state’s connectivity needs.”
Each year, Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow looks for one member of the Ohio House or Senate to recognize for his or her leadership on technology-related issues during the legislative business of the preceding year. This legislator should demonstrate that he or she has an understanding of the increasing importance of technology in the everyday lives of Ohioans, and accordingly places a high priority on technology-related legislation and policies in his or her work in the Statehouse.
