Batavia Township Trustees renewed their membership with the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce for 2014.

Administrator Rex Parsons discussed paying for a higher membership level so that trustees can increase their involvement with the chamber in 2014.

Parsons suggested the $2,500 option, rather than the $1,800 option that they approved last year.

Parsons said the difference is the $2,500 option includes a position on the board of advisors.

Parsons said he is hoping that the increased involvement will help them draw more businesses to Batavia Township.

He said the chamber works to get businesses interested in coming to Clermont County.

“We should be getting them to look at Batavia,” Parsons said.

Parsons said the membership dues would include a variety of yearly and monthly meetings, networking opportunities and special business-related events as well as the board of advisors meeting.

“I think we should try it for a year,” Trustee Bill Dowdney said.

Trustees approved renewing the membership at the increased $2,500 level for 2014.

The Clermont County Chamber of Commerce has more than 750 members, according to the organization’s website.
