Before you toss old bank records, tax statements, and all those credit card offers you receive into the recycling bin, take a moment and put the sensitive documents in a bag or box and circle Oct. 26 on your calendar.

The City of Milford and Cintas Document Management will be sponsoring a free community shred day from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Municipal Building parking lot located at 745 Center Street.

Shredding paperwork effectively can reduce the elements leading to identity theft.

This is an excellent opportunity to properly dispose of personal documents and other materials containing sensitive information such as social security numbers and bank account numbers instead of placing your documents in your recycling bin.

Don’t be a victim of identity theft; shred your sensitive documents. Residents and businesses may bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded.

This service is free to all citizens and businesses in the community.
