Join the Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District Thursday, Sept. 12 to celebrate its 70th year of conservation activities in Clermont County.
This year, the District’s Annual Meeting is being held at Pattison Park Lodge with the doors opening at 5:45 p.m.
This promises to be a fun evening, with entertainment provided by the Blue Chip Jazz Band and an opportunity to taste local wine from Harmony Hill Vineyard in Bethel.
A wonderful dinner of bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin or sautéed chicken with lemon shallot butter cream sauce will be catered by Terri Hoerth, with proceeds going to Clermont Northeastern Schools.
There will be many door prizes available, and you can take your chance on a raffle ticket and win a $150 duck call or an airplane ride over Clermont County, courtesy of Soil & Water Board Member and pilot Todd Winemiller.
At the meeting, one Board of Supervisors member will be elected. The two candidates are Melody Newman and David Schklar. Meet the candidates at www.clermontswcd.org/candidates2013.aspx.
Additionally, several partners will be recognized for achievements in the conservation field, including Elaine Miller of Batavia Township who will be honored as the District’s Conservation Cooperator of the Year.
Ms. Miller operates a horse boarding facility and has partnered with the district in recent years on a variety of conservation projects, including heavy use livestock area, rotational grazing, a livestock watering system and much more.
Also, Rachelle Rapp-Dickerson will be honored as Educator of the Year, and Tom Bellar of Stonelick Township will be given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the conservation field.
Tickets for the event are $12 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 12. Tickets can be purchased at the Soil & Water Conservation District office at the Clermont County Fairgrounds, 1000 Locust Street, in Owensville, or you can register online at www.clermontswcd.org/annualmeeting.aspx.
