R. William Vogel, 96, of Milford, died May 1 in Anderson Township.

He was a machinist supervisor for the U.S. Government. He served as one of the first “Frogmen” in World War II, a special force which was the forerunner of today’s Navy Seals. Originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area, Vogel spent much of his life in Jacksonville, Fla. with his wife.

Vogel was preceded in death by loving wife Betty.

He is survived by seven nieces and nephews.

Service to be held at convenience of the family.
