The assault occurred on Monday April 29.
The victim and witnesses told police that the suspect was wearing a blue, wrestler style mask as he approached the 60-year-old female as she was loading her groceries in her car.
Schmidt began beating on her back with a stick that was later recovered at the scene.
A quick-thinking witness saw the attack and yelled at Schmidt and then rammed a grocery cart into the suspect’s vehicle as a distraction.
Schmidt threw the stick at the witness and then got back in his blue, 1980’s model Chevrolet Camaro and left the parking lot. Schmidt was arrested around 10 p.m. this evening. He has been charged with Felonious Assault taken to the Clermont County Jail.
