The menu for the new La Bamba Mexican Restaurant in Batavia boasts “Authentic Mexican Cuisine and Cantina” which is exactly what you get, according to manager and part-owner Mario Reyes. Reyes, from Veracruz, Mexico, said the food is a mix of traditional Mexican dishes such as Huevos con Chorizo, and Tex-Mex items, a blend of Mexican and American foods.

The restaurant, situated on the corner of East Main Street and North Riverside Drive, is staffed by a group of friendly, eager workers who keep the place clean and welcoming. The restaurant is decorated in colorful sombreros and Mexican artwork. Low hanging colored lights and soft Mexican music add to the coziness of the sit-down restaurant that has a separated section off to the side for larger parties.

Menu items include appetizers, salads, a la carte and side orders, as well as lunch and dinner dishes. Appetizers, which include Bean Dip, Guacamole, and Homemade Mexican Chili, are priced from $3-6.55. Salads cost from $3-8 and a la carte items are all less than $3.50. Lunch items include Tacos, Enchiladas, Fajitas, and Chimichangas, all less than $8. Dinner items include Shrimp Fajitas, Steak Mexicano, and Arroz con Pollo which is grilled chicken breast over a layer of rice. Dinner items average around $10. The menu also has a section devoted to different types of fajitas, desserts, a kids menu, and there is even a vegetarian section.

Chris Bortz, Keven Whitney, Bill Davis, and Marty Bachey from Towne Construction Services eat lunch together at La Bamba every couple weeks and had only positive remarks to make about the new restaurant. They said La Bamba offers “good service,” that the “food’s always delicious” and commented on the “nice atmosphere and good music” which was playing in the background. As regulars of the new restaurant, the gentlemen had no problem recommending La Bamba to others.
