Clem Shumacher, 85, of Ripley, died April 23.

He was a member of St. Michael Church in Ripley and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was one of Ripley’s Outstanding Citizens. He was a member of the Ripley Fire Department and he was a Union Township Trustee. He was also a well-known hoe operator and farmer.

Shumacher is survived by his wife Lois of almost 61 years, his brothers Bernie (Frankie), Stanley and Jim (Judy) Shumacher and his sister Coletta (Jim) Schaffner and many nieces and nephews, godchildren Lisa Reynolds, Gina Wildermuth and Michael Blackburn as well as Lois Ann Lundergan (Jeff) Dennis, Eddie (Kim) Lundergan and Drew (Teresa) Lundergan, grandchild Stacey (TJ) Emmons and great grandchildren Madelyn, Connor and Chloe, Patrick (Leah) Dennis and great-grandson James, Andrew, Lori (Scott) Huff, Andrea, Katie and Joseph Dennis and Samantha and Andrew Lundergan as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Elizabeth Shumacher, brothers Paul and Raymond and sister Mary Ann Paeltz.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. April 26 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. April 27 at St. Michaels Church in Ripley. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley. Fellowship following graveside services will be held at St. Michael’s Parish Hall. Memorials to St. Michael’s Parish school or to the Ripley Fire Department.
