The staff at Amelia East Family Dentistry recently surprised their employer, Dr. James Pierce, DDS, with an anniversary party. Dr. Pierce has been practicing dentistry in Amelia for 20 years this month, and his staff and family decided that this was an accomplishment worthy of recognition.

“When we realized that it was Dr. Pierce’s 20-year anniversary, we decided we wanted to do something for him,” office manager Dawn Lang said. “We wanted to recognize him and his outstanding career.”

Dr. Pierce grew up outside of Chicago and attended Indiana University, where he met his wife, Susan. He became acquainted with the Cincinnati area on visits with his future bride’s family in Anderson Township, and decided that this was where he wanted to settle after graduation.

“I always liked the Cincinnati area,” he said. “And this area just seemed like a good fit for me.”

Dr. Pierce says he happened upon the dental practice he eventually bought while on a drive from Anderson Township to East Fork State Park. He was still in dental school at the time, but he was able to buy the practice after he graduated.

He spent 12 years at that original building with two operatories, during which time he purchased the adjacent property and built a new 4,000-square-foot facility.

“It’s been a great run so far, I love the people out here,” Dr. Pierce said. “I’ve been very fortunate, very blessed, the people have been very good to me here.”

Lang says that she has worked for Dr. Pierce for nearly 16 years, and that most all of the staff has worked for Dr. Pierce for at least 10 years. She said that the practice is a great place to work, and that it is also great for patients.

“When new patients come to our practice, they never leave,” Lang said. “Dr. Pierce makes them feel welcome and they want to stay.”

Dr. Pierce is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, and the Cincinnati Dental Society. The practice participates in several community service programs including Give Kids a Smile Day, Tiger Tools for Schools, and the Dental Options program. Dr. Pierce has also opened Amelia East Dental Assisting Academy in an effort to educate those who are interested in entering the dental field.

The practice is located at 2200 Ohio Pike in Amelia. For information on the practice visit www.jamespiercedds.com or call (513) 734-6614.
