On January 13, 1943, Ralph Swisshelm of Manchester and Donna Rose Cox of Peebles, Ohio were united in Holy Matrimony by a preacher in Covington, Ky. Seventy years later on Sunday afternoon, the couple celebrated their anniversary with family and friends at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethel. The reception was sponsored by their five children, Priscilla Slone, Tim (Vicky) Swisshelm, Faye Marie (Terry) Bowman, Celinda (Chuck) McKinney, and Ted (Tammy) Swisshelm as well as nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. When asked what advice they might give a young couple anticipating marriage, Donna replied, “Be quick to forgive, and don’t hold grudges.” Ralph added, “Silence is golden, and meet each other halfway.” Congratulations to this wonderful Bethel couple on such a milestone!
