The village of New Richmond will host their annual Sept. 11 memorial ceremony and concert on Tuesday, Sept. 11 this year.

Students, residents and officials have held a memorial ceremony ever year since September 11, 2001.

“It started at the high school the day it happened,” Ralph Shepherd, concert organizer in the village, said. “Every year we hold it on the date.”

Shepherd said the New Richmond Troubadours and John Hale will sing patriotic music during the ceremony. He said they will honor veterans, emergency service workers, police and firefighters.

“They were all involved,” Shepherd said about the service men and women.

Shepherd said it is important to remember Sept. 11 and remember the significance of the day.

“It changed the United States’ thinking,” Shepherd said.

He said the ceremony and concert will be held at the Bandstand in New Richmond and will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11.
