Car show to benefit CCDD respite program

The first annual “Let the Good Times Roll” car show will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Thomas A. Wildey Center, 2040 US Highway 50, Batavia (one mile west of Owensville).

The entry fee is $10 per car and includes a free T-shirt with every show car. A total of 35 trophies/plaques will be given out during the awards ceremony, which is planned for 2:30 p.m.

Raffle and split the pot tickets will be available throughout the day. Raffle items include a signed Bengals Football, rounds of golf from Stonelick Hills Golf Course, a supply of Mike’s Car Wash Coupons, a six month’s supply of glass cleaner wipes, and a $75 gift certificate to Sybaris Pool Suites in Indianapolis.

Sponsors for this event are the Clermont DD Empowers Me non-profit board, Mullins Maintenance LLC, CareSource, KBC Construction, Murphy Supply, Total Class Construction, and Stigler Supply Company.

All proceeds will benefit the Gift of Time Respite Cooperative, a program of the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

“This is the first car show we’ve organized,” said Josh Mullis, Building Supervisor for CCDD and Car Show Committee Chair. “We have lots of room on our property to park show cars and spectators, so we’re hoping for a large crowd.”

A variety of vendors will also be in attendance, including food/drink booths, local crafts, and others such as Thirty-One, Tastefully Simple, and jewelry booths. A children’s area will feature games and a bounce house.

Among the trophies and plaques will be a “Superintendent’s Choice Award,” which will be decided upon by CCDD Superintendent Sharon Woodrow. Those present will also get to pick their favorite car when they vote for the “People’s Choice Award.”

Since proceeds of this event will support the Gift of Time Respite Cooperative, a “Respite Choice Award” will be among the top three trophies given. Children and adults who attend monthly respite days will be present during the car show to pick their favorite car.
