Goshen’s Chaz Gresham successfully defended his state championship with another win in 2012.

The Southern Buckeye Conference announced its All-Conference teams earlier this month headlined by Goshen’s two-time state champion Chaz Gresham being named Player of the Year and New Richmond coach Deron Shinkle being named Coach of the Year.

 

Gresham, who wrestled at 182 lbs. this year, was head and shoulders above most of his competition in the SBC as well as up a the state meet.

“He’s a little bit above the rest of the guys’ level,” Goshen coach Dallas Rise said of his star. “He’s not only important to our program, but when you win the state championship, that’s history and you can never take that away from someone.”

Also joining Gresham on the First Team All-Conference were teammate Anthony Carome (152 lbs.) five New Richmond Lions and three Bethel Tigers.

New Richmond’s first teamers were Brody Hooks (113 lbs.), Austin Skaggs (120 lbs.), Kyle Weeks (160 lbs.), James White (170 lbs.) and JR Forsee (285 lbs.).

Bethel’s first team selections included Brandon Kahlenbeck (106 lbs.), Chip Ratcliff (132 lbs.) and Jon Ward (195 lbs.).

On the Second Team, Clermont County was well-represented as well.

Amelia’s freshmen Issac Shalash and Alec Holste were selected as the 106 lbs. and 113 lbs. second team selections, respectively.

Williamsburg’s Jordan Smith was honored at 285 lbs. Goshen’s Conner Rahm was selected as the second-team member at 145 lbs. Batavia’s Gabe Archer was selected at 195 lbs.

Bethel added two other All-Conference selections in Aric Peters (120 lbs.) and Josh East (160 lbs.)

Finally, New Richmond added four more to the All-Conference roster. The members are Cody Gabelman at 126 lbs., Robbie Lemar at 138 lbs., Clay Loadman at 152 lbs. and Nathan Dixon who wrestled at 230 lbs.
