Hannah Lindsey of Batavia High School was chosen as the February Student of the Month by the Batavia Rotary Club.
The Batavia Rotary recognizes one high school student from Batavia Schools during the first Rotary meeting of each month throughout the regular school year. Students are nominated for this award for their school work and service to their community. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self,” and Lindsey’s school accomplishments as well as her work in the community qualified her for this award.
“Hannah attends Live Oaks Career Development Center and has truly found her niche,” said Felicia Grooms, Batavia High School Guidance Counselor. “She is very active in the Early Childhood Program at Live Oaks and is on the Honor Roll there.”
Lindsey earned straight A’s at Live Oaks during her junior year and was recognized on the Batavia Honor Roll as well as the Live Oaks Dean’s List. She is an active member of Family Community and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA) and has participated in the club’s local and regional events, receiving First Place in the local team event in 2011. Lindsey was recognized as Live Oaks Student of the Month in January, 2011 and had perfect attendance throughout her junior year. She attends her school classes in the morning and goes on job placement to Big Bear Childcare in the afternoon.
Lindsey enjoys spending her spare time with family and friends. She plans to continue her education at Shawnee State University after graduation, where she has been offered a partial academic scholarship.
The Batavia Rotary Club is comprised of a diverse group of community-minded members that are working together to address various community and international needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
