Glen Este High School announced the hiring of new head football coach Glen Este Alum.

Ayers will assume responsibilities pending the West Clermont Board of Education approval on February13.

“We are very excited that Nick will be our next football coach ,” said Glen Este High School Principal John Spieser.

Ayers, a 1999 graduate of Glen Este High School, was the Queen City Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1998, First Team All-City and East-West All-Star Player in 1999.

Ayers earned a football scholarship to Georgetown College in Kentucky 2000-2004 as a running back.

Ayers, who walked on to the team, was an All-American at Georgetown College in 2001, 2002 and 2003 – including breaking three different records at Georgetown for rushing touch downs, total touch downs and points scored.

He was also the third all-time leading rusher at the college where his team earned two national champions 2000 and 2001, and were runners-up in 2002. Ayers signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004 and played arena football before a leg-injury ended his football career.

“This is my dream job – my entire family’s history is here. I have three family members that were inducted in the Glen Este High School Hall of Fame.

“Nick Ayers is the type of coach that inspires athletes to reach the best of their abilities,” Athletic Director Dan Simmons said.

Ayers coaching experience includes graduate assistant strength coaching and running back coach at the College of Mount St. Joseph, assistant coach for running backs and strength coach at Glen Este High School, youth volunteer coach for Glen Este teams.

Most recently Ayers was the seventh grade head coach at Glen Este Middle School.

“I look forward to a great off season, one step at a time, building the foundation with a solid work ethic, weight lifting and strength training. I am looking forward to working with everyone in the community to help increase participation and off set pay-to-participate through fund-raising with player-community interaction,” said Ayers.
