Ten students from Mrs. King’s Family and Consumer Science classes traveled to Paul Brown Stadium to attend the Fuel Up to Play 60 Youth Summit.

While attending the summit the students learned about the importance of good nutrition and exercise by participating in on-field team building and leadership activities with Bengals Defensive End Michael Johnson and Bengals mascot Who-Dey.

Williamsburg High School received a grant from the American Dairy Association to implement the Fuel Up to Play 60 program at the school. The Fuel Up to Play 60 program empowers teens to take charge of their own health and work with school leaders to create long-term opportunities for 60 minutes of daily physical activity and make more healthy food choices like low-fat and fat free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 program gives kids the power to influence their own health and make their school environments healthier by eating right, getting daily physical activity and encouraging their friends to do the same. Students in Mrs. King’s Healthy and Safe Foods classes had a smoothie contest where they created their own recipe for healthy smoothies made from yogurt, milk and fruit.
