Terry Sheehan
Terry Sheehan is retiring from the Batavia School District. He has served the district 20 years.

He began as the high school principal, taught career education and work study, and for the last eight years has been the high school athletic director(AD).

Athletics has been the major portion of his career at Batavia. In addition to his position as athletic director, he has coached golf, baseball, softball, and bowling.

“I still want to work part time, just to stay busy,” he said. “I may help the new athletic director, but I want some time to myself – reduced hours, not such a demanding schedule.”

Sheehan has enjoyed his days at Batavia traveling from his home in Montgomery where he has lived with his wife, Joan, and children Joe, Holly, and Molly.

Sheehan began his career at Batavia when he read about an opening for the high school principal’s position. He was teaching seventh and eighth grade at Turpin Middle School at the time.

In his 35-years in the field of education, 25 of them has been in administration.

“Batavia has been a great place to work. There are really good families and students and student-athletes here. I’ve experienced very few hassles,” said Sheehan. “It’s been a lot of fun watching the coaches and the athletes and the development of their success.

“I want to thank the boosters for all their support and all the work they do. Working with the ADs at the other schools has been fun. We worked together to achieve things at our own schools and in the league. . .

“I’m glad to have worked in Clermont County, but right now is a good time to go, financially. The financial tightness has made it a good time to get out.

“I’ll still be around some to support the Batavia Bulldogs, though..”

“Ben Stewart is a good choice for the new AD. He is a real proud Batavian. He’ll work out real good here.”
