Santa will be making two grand appearances at the annual River Village Christmas in New Richmond celebration set for Friday, Dec. 9, and Saturday, Dec. 10.

Santa Claus will be transported to the festivities by a fire truck on Friday night and on a river boat on Saturday; the event typically draws thousands to the Clermont County riverfront community each holiday season.

“The event begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, with the traditional lighting of the tree, caroling, antique carriage rides, and the opportunity to shop and visit with local crafters,” said event organizer Margie Keck.

On Saturday, two big parades are planned. “We are having a Santa Paws Pet Parade,” said Keck. Dress up your dog, cat, horse, bunny, or hamster and bring him out to march in the parade. Lots of prizes will be awarded.” Later in the afternoon, a people parade featuring marching bands and floats will step off.

“We will have a kids’ craft area where they can make seeded pine cone ornaments to help feed birds over the winter,” said Keck.
