Miami Township Police investigate armed robbery at apartment complex

Miami Township Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 613 Heatherwood Court at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 11.

The initial officers on the scene located a male victim who had suffered a head injury during the robbery at his apartment.

The victim told police that he had been robbed at gunpoint by three black males who took personal items and cash from his residence. After the robbery all three suspects fled the scene in an unknown type vehicle in an unknown direction.

During the initial investigation, officers learned of a second victim who was also robbed by the same suspects at gunpoint in a separate apartment within the same complex. The second victim also suffered a loss of personal items stolen during that robbery.

“Our investigators were able to retrieve some physical evidence from the scene and will be processing that evidence for additional identifying characteristics of the offenders,” said Miami Township Assistant Police Chief Sue Madsen. “We’re also hoping that others may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area of the robbery that day, and if so, we’re asking for them to call us with that information.”
