Clermont County Commissioners have proclaimed the week of Nov. 6-12 as Veterans Awareness Week and several Veterans Day events will be held in Clermont County to celebrate and honor local veterans.

In Batavia, the annual Veterans Day parade will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 11. Veterans, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other community groups are invited to participate in the parade, which will line up at 6 p.m. at the Batavia Post Office.

A special event will also be held at the Batavia Township Community Center Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. to unveil an engraving of the names of 14 local men who died while serving the country. The names were placed on a boulder in the Veterans Memorial Plaza at the community center.

In New Richmond, there will be several events honoring veterans during the week including breakfast for veterans at New Richmond’s elementary schools. The breakfasts will be held Nov. 7 at New Richmond Elementary, Nov. 9 at Locust Corner Elementary and Nov. 10 at Monroe Elementary, all will be at 7:30 a.m.

There will also be a ceremony for veterans at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at New Richmond Middle School, as well as a ceremony at the memorial on Susanna Way at 5 p.m. Nov. 11.
