Lauren Knecht, a Glen Este High School senior, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Union College, Barbourville, Ky., to further her education and become a member of the Bulldogs’ girls bowling program.
She is one of the first Clermont County high school graduates to sign a letter of commitment in this sport.
At Union College, she will make history her major course of study.
“I was looking to go to a smaller school, one where I could stand out and not just be another number. I think it’s a great college,” she said in explaining her college choice.
She was a two-year member of the Glen Este High varsity girls bowling program and earned a letter for both seasons in which she took part.
In addition to sports she served as the president of the history club and was also a member of the National Honor Society.
She singled out her prep sports highlight as being a member of the Trojans’ undefeated team that won 18 consecutive games.
“I will never be able to thank my parents (Dan and Robin Knecht) enough for all of their help in everything,” she said, adding,”(Glen Este head girls bowling) coach (Kathy) Demarko is a great teacher. She helped me to get a lot better in bowling.”
