Two Clermont countians who are very much involved in the local sports scene have just opened an athletic clothing store this month. The TR Martin’s Sports discount sports apparel store is located on state Route 125 in Cherry Grove.
Tommy Martin, a 1967 graduate of Amelia High School, and Rick Engle, a 1976 graduate of Clermont Northeastern High School, are the co-owners of this business that Martin describes as having in its abundant amount of stock “all types of sports apparel.”
Holloway Sports Wear is the brand of sports wear that is being promoted and sold in the store.
“We’re selling 50-percent off wholesale for the public and for dealers,” said Martin. “For example $60 jackets will cost $10, $40 polo shirts will cost $8, $10 jogging pants will cost $8, and $34 hoodies will cost $10.”
Martin has been a coach of many Clermont County athletic teams for many years. He has coached Knothole, youth softball, and high school fastpitch softball.
Engle is a former Clermont County League football and baseball all-star whose outstanding talent earned him a pitcher’s berth on major league baseball’s Montreal Expos.
Martin and Engle’s daughters play fast pitch softball together as members of the Amelia High School varsity. Nikki Martin plays second base and Shelby Engle is a pitcher for the Barons. Both are Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-stars.
Their fathers are very excited about bringing quality athletic clothing to Clermont County.
Said Martin, “This apparel is for everyone, kids, ladies, and men. We have more than 8,000 sorts apparel items for $6 or less.
“We want to be able to help any team to be able to line-up a fund-raiser for a weekend. The teams will get 10-percent of all sales. We want to be able to help the kids and the teams of the area.”
