Information, photographs are being accepted for history book

Felicity’s 175th Anniversary Planning Committee continues its determined, hard-working drive toward the celebration weekend, May 13-15.

The Felicity history book is of primary interest. Ralph Adams and Sharon Moran, committee members, are performing a vast amount of work on the book, which is nearing a size of 200 pages. Due to the number of pages, some of the work and/or topics may be held on to until another book that will be published for Felicity’s and Franklin Township’s Bicentennial that will be in 2018. The current book’s deadline has been extended to mid-February 2011.

Volunteers are still being sought especially for proof reading. Writings and photographs and other pictures are still being accepted.

Information is being sought pertaining to the Catholic Church and the Felicity Reading Room. Jim Shafer, committee chairman, is gathering and contributing information about the local lodges and the Knights of Phythias and other organizations.

A picture of the village’s founding father, William Fee, is also being sought.

The celebration’s logo is nearly ready to print. It is being made into posters to be displayed throughout the township. School posters designed by students are also being made for display.

More reenactors are needed for the Walking Tour. Each reenactor will be asked to portray their historical character for approximatley 20 minutes.

Square dances and a Civil War and 1800s balls are being planned and discussed.

Plans continue, too, for an antique tractor show, quilt and flower shows, a horseshoe tournament, and an ice cream social.
