Sarah Alley, an outstanding Milford High School student-athlete, has recently signed a letter-of-intent to further her education and athletic career at Ashland University, Ashland Ohio.

The Ashland Eagles have qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) national championship tournament the past two years.

“At first wanted to go south, but after I visited Ashland I absolutely fell in love with it,” said the outstanding E-Gal fast pitch softball pitcher who plans to major in exercise science.

To date she has earned three varsity letters on the diamond and has been a Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye all-star each year. Following her junior season she earned Division I All-Ohio honorable mention recognition.

She owns several school fast pitch records. Her career pitching record is 43-18 with a very impressive 0.63 earned run average and she has struck out 573 opponents. She is talented with the offensive facet of the game, too, sporting a good .356 hitting average.

Off the playing field she has taken the time to be a member of the Milford athletic leadership council.

Softball, career-wise, she focuses on the E-Gals’ hard-fought rivalry with next-door neighbor Glen Este as having the most memorable moments of her stellar career. She also pointed out she has a personally close friendly rivalry with the Trojans’ outstanding hurler Kelley Benhase who has recently signed a letter-of-intent to study and play fast pitch at Northern Kentucky University next year.

Sarah has several people to whom she is grateful for their assistance throughout all or much of her life.

She said, “My dad (Jim Alley) has been there from day one helping me pitch and catching me…Mom (Linda Alley) did a lot helping me with my recruiting work and both of them have gone to everything … my sister (Rachel) travels with me and helps me with everything. She is my biggest cheerleader … Christy Gregory (Milford head fast pitch softball coach) has been there a lot. She’s a really good coach who brings out the best in me”

She also pointed out three trainers who have been instrumental in her health, strength, and success – Dalen Reeder, his daughter, Misty Bridges, and Missy Seymoore. Reeder was “with me seven years.” Bridges “is now my trainer.” Seymoore “is my strength coach; she’s like a second mother.”

“Sarah is very deserving of this. Ashland is a very highly ranked softball program,” said Christy Gregory of her stellar pitcher. “She is a coach’s dream. She works hard all year long and is a good leader and example on and off the field and she’s great in the classroom.”
