Police chief reports kidnapping in Milford

Milford Police Chief Mark Machan has reported that there was a kidnapping in the city Friday, Dec. 3.

It began when a suspect approached Jeff King in the parking lot of the Millcroft Apartments and Townhouses (formerly Milford Commons) at 11:30 Friday night. The man asked to borrow King’s cell phone to make a call.

After the suspect made the call, he asked King for a ride to the United Dairy Farmers store in Milford. King agreed and when the two arrived there, the suspect indicated that he had a gun and demanded that King drive him to the UDF in Madisonville.

In Madisonville, the suspect made several stops, allegedly to buy drugs, and took King’s car keys away from him at each stop.

When the suspect had finished his business, he let King go. King was not injured in the incident.

The suspect is a white male in his late 20’s or early 30’s with a shaved head. He is approximately 5’8″ tall and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Machan said that they had a picture of the suspect taken by security cameras at UDF in Madisonville and he is confident that they will soon identify the suspect.

Machan told council that he wanted to get the message out that it is dangerous to pick up strangers.

“If people come up to you to find rides, advise them to find a pay phone,” he said.
