Betty Davis (nee Theisz), 98, of Amelia has died. She was born in 1912.

Her parents Blanche and Jack Theisz built their house on what is now Main Street in Amelia in 1917. When they and their children, Betty and David, moved into that house they could not have imagined that Betty would live for over 90 years. After Betty and Jim (James R. Davis, Sr.), Amelia High School sweethearts, married, they lived in that house. There they reared their children Judi Davis Selden, and James “Jaimie” R. Davis Jr. When Betty’s husband Jim died in 1985, she chose to continue to live in the house her parents built until her death.

She was blessed with three grandchildren, Laurel Selden (Curt) Conrad, Meghan (Greg) Davis, and James R. (Jennelle Galetta) Davis III. Betty was doubly blessed with two great grandchildren Hope, and Kate.

Along with family, Betty’s friends graced her later life. Her family thanks them for their friendship.

Now that Betty has left her home, we would like to remember her curled comfortably there with an intriguing book or sparking a political debate, while sipping a steaming cup of tea.

Visitation 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, Amelia. Funeral services to follow. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
