The Central Joint Fire-EMS District is asking Batavia Township and Village residents for additional funds for the first time since the district was formed in 2001.

The 2.9 mill levy will be used to provide the district with technology upgrades Chief Kevin Riley says are vital for providing quicker response times and limiting injury and property loss.

“It will allow us to maintain our level service and grow our department by replacing equipment,” Riley said. “Our equipment is starting to get older and we need to begin replacing it.”
