Ishmael Gayheart, 83, died Monday, May 10, 2010. He was born July 24, 1926.

He served his country in World War II in the European Campaign with the 30th infantry division. In recognition of his service, he received 2 bronze stars along with numerous other decorations. He was a member of VFW Post 3954, American Legion Post 72, and Mount Scott Masonic Lodge 540.

Gayheart was preceded in death by his parents Amos & Zella Gayheart, son Randall J. Gayheart and siblings Hershel Gayheart and Irene Gayheart.

is survived by his wife Annie Gayheart (nee. Hughes) of 61 years, children Pamela Ann (Larry) Walsten, and Deborah L. Gayheart, siblings Magdeline Combs, Anna Mae Smith, Corinne Collins, Carl Gayheart, Herma Bargo, and Marla Kay Henry.

Visitation and funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, Amelia. Interment at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010.
