Several Ohio government officials celebrated the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in Williamsburg Thursday.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Army Corps of Engineers, Ohio General Assembly, and the U.S. Senate came to Williamsburg to honor the village’s efforts to install an eco-friendly bionutrient removal system in the village wastewater treatment plant.

“This is our Earth Day project that we are holding up to the entire state of Ohio as an indication of a community that has gotten together and worked across the aisles politically,” Tony Logan, State Director of the USDA said. “We are proud to be a part of the effort that you’ve put in down here in the village of Williamsburg to create a clean and sustainable water system for your community.”
