Five Clermont County heroes were honored Sunday at the unveiling of a memorial in their honor at the Stuart G. Luginbuhl American Legion Post 72 in Mt. Carmel.
Post member Jerry Beckman said he was at a loss for words when the opportunity came to speak to family members of soldiers who recently died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“When friends lose their children while they are serving our country, we all want to say and do the right thing to make them feel better,” Beckman said. “The initial idea of the memorial was born out of the need to say something. The memorial was a gift to the American Legion for all of us to say something.”
