It was business as usual at the Union Township Trustees meeting on Thursday, Jan. 14 until the trustees went into a three-hour executive session.

“We terminated our contract with administrator David Duckworth after a long discussion in executive session on Jan. 14,” said trustee Bob McGee. “The relationship with Duckworth as administrator just didn’t work out for us. It was a mutual agreement between David and the board.”

Duckworth was hired as administrator in February 2009 to fill the position left vacant when the previous administrator was fired. He did much work on the township budget in that time to save the township money, but trustees were expecting him to do more toward seeking economic development.
