Bethel Village voters have two choices to fill the unexpired term for mayor. Travis Dotson was elected to the position but was later hired by the village to fill the administrator position. Councilman John Swarthout was then appointed to fill the mayor position until a general election was held. The term for mayor will not expire until Dec. 31, 2011 and two residents have filed petitions for the position.

James Dick is currently serving on council as an appointed member. He has been on the planning commission since 2005 and says he wants to enhance the community where his family lives. He notes that a theme he has heard from people in the village is that Bethel was an active, vibrant and close-knit town some years ago.
