Conrad challenges Rudd for court clerk

The race for Municipal Court Clerk in Clermont County is on and the incumbent, Tim Rudd, says that the job should remain with an elected official, while his opponent Gregg Conrad is basing his platform on the idea that what are now two positions should be combined and handled by one elected clerk, as was the case in the past.

The office of Municipal Clerk of Court in Clermont County is an elected position and has been since 1992. When Clermont County Municipal Court was established in 1992, an exception was written into the Ohio Revised Code to allow the clerk of Common Pleas Court to serve both the Common Pleas and Municipal Courts in Clermont County.

In 2003, that exception was removed from the code allowing for the establishment of a Clerk of Municipal Court office.
