Wayne Township Fire Department received official notice Oct. 2 that it is in line to receive $820,000 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The money is part of the $210 million pledged to the Federal Emergency Management Agency from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

According to Wayne Township Fire Chief David Moulden, the department applied for funding in May.

“There were only 104 projects awarded nationwide out of 6,000 applications received from 35 states. In Ohio, only five projects were selected and Wayne Township was the only fire department in southwest Ohio to receive this money,” said Moulden.
