Greg Pickett, Glen Este High School senior, has recently signed a letter-of-intent to further his education and athletic careers at Defiance College, Defiance, Ohio.

He plans to major in criminal justice and to play football at the northern Ohio school.

Pickett earned two letters in the four seasons he competed on the gridiron at Glen Este and he also was a member of the wrestling squad for one year.

In addition to his fine athletic career, he found time to be a volunteer helper at his church, the New Birth Christian Center.

A pair of football showdowns his final high school season stand out as the most memorable of his career.

“We played well in the clutch against Harrison. The defense had a great goal line stand to help us win the game. . . the team played well against Anderson.”

He is very thankful for the great inspiration and leadership he has received in his life.

My parents (Greg and Jennifer) have always been very inspiring for me. . . I want to thank God because I’m blessed to be where I am. . . I could always count on my best friend Jeremy Hoop. We could always count on each other and we always helped each other. . . (varsity football) coaches (Zac) Taylor and (Ray) Ayers got us through adversity.”
