The Village of Williamsburg will soon have two operational water towers. The water tower located on North 8th Street on the west side of the village has been off-line waiting for crews to raise the tower to the same height as the Wildcat Tower on the east side of town.

Crews from AmQuip in Nashville, Tenn., brought in two of their largest cranes on Tuesday, Aug. 18 to raise the water tower.

According to a worker at the site, the crews will remove the top of the tower, cut off the existing stem and weld a taller stem in its place. The top of the tower will then be lowered back onto the taller stem and secured in place. This process will raise the height an additional 46 feet bringing it to the same height as the Wildcat Tower.
